MOANA
Method: 3D clay Printed
A 53-inch hexagonal form made of 3D clay-printed porcelain tiles that vary in size, shape, and depth. Because each of these small components has a different number of layers printed on it, certain pieces are further distant from the central point than others. My purpose with this kind of artwork was to show the similarities to the various stairwells I must climb to reach my final goals. Because blue signifies ocean water and brown indicates the sandy bottom of the ocean, I chose a brilliant blue glaze that breaks into a golden-brown color at each layer for this painting.
