ARTIST PROFILE

Before finding her true path and passion Aliza Ladiwala dabbled in courses in finance, hotel management, and design. All these knowledge experiences, eventually lead to her true path of interest and ability. Currently, at New York State College of Ceramics, she is pursuing a bachelor's in Fine Arts with a Minor in Business Administration.

Aliza, originally from Mumbai, India is from a family of fourth-generation traders in ceramics, wall tiles, sanitary ware, and fittings. During one summer, out of curiosity, she enrolled in a porcelain painting class, and with the first stroke of the brush, on that white butter-smooth ceramic plate she felt pure magic within her, which reflected on that piece. She realized then that she has an innate ability to transform an ordinary piece into beauty.

She is passionate about 3D printing with clay and plastic and has used this modern technology on a variety of projects, including tiles, sinks, bowls, and typography. Aliza believes in experimenting and going beyond the rules of design, and that "inspiration can be found anywhere".
